As part of my role as Head of Technology at Nerve* Media
, and as part of previous intern jobs, I have played a large role in the organisation's online output for the last two years. I re-designed and maintained the previous website within the BAM content management system, winning Nerve* Media the 'BAM Minisite of the month' award, and installed a multi-camera streaming video system in the studio. More recently I have developed the Nerve* Radio Player for the new website and the Facebook page, which allows the audience to listen online, watch the webcam, find out who's on-air and message the studio. I also developed an in-studio touchscreen monitor which allows the presenter to read incoming Tweets, Emails, Facebook and SMS messages.
During a two week placement at Guardian Films
I worked on improving the department's social media and online presence. I improved the Facebook
pages by adding three new tabs with information and embedded photos and videos to the Facebook page, and I redesigned and rebranded the Twitter page. I then set up the Facebook group to automatically post new videos to the group as soon as they are uploaded to the Guardian website. I also worked on the online marketing strategy for the launch of a new film on Afghanistan, gaining the film coverage on many websites and blogs including the Huffington Post.
I created an interactive map of the Edinburgh Tram System
from scratch for the Guardian website during a placement with their online department. I researched and plotted the exact planned route for the tram system, inserted multimedia content from a variety of online sources, and marked potential traffic and road works.
An iPhone Web App I designed for backpackers and visitors to Toronto. Toronto Backpacker
features Top 5 lists written by local Toronto residents about the top places to eat, drink and visit, plus an overview video guide of the city created specifically for the app. The app uses Google Maps to direct visitors to the locations, and can be installed directly onto the iPhone for easy access while visiting the city. The app was designed for my Independent Project class while studying at Ryerson University.
Writer, actor and director Andrew Kazamia
asked me to create an online identity for his growing CV. I completed the website within four days from start to finish, including encoding and uploading clips from his two short films onto YouTube.
A web based multimedia news headline player I developed for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Visit Newscast
on your iPhone/iPod's Safari web browser, and you can watch the latest video headlines and listen to audio headlines from around the world.
Independent film production company, Quadriga Productions, asked me to create an online presence for their new feature film, Trust Me
. I created a website with an easily updatable news page and flash based intro and a Myspace and YouTube page for fans of the film.
I was asked to design a simple holiday home rental information website for Casa Laura
, in southern Spain. The website features information about the house, an interactive photo gallery and an interactive map.
